The Greek Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday for the extradition to the United States of the Russian boss of the BTC-e bitcoin trading platform which was challenging a first court ruling to that effect. claimed to be extradited to Russia.
Under Greek law however it will be up to the Minister of Justice to decide ultimately on the fate of the accused Alexander Vinnik 37 said a judicial source.
The Supreme Court ruled after an appeal by Vinnik challenging a first court decision in early October to extradite him to the United States.
Meanwhile Russia had also demanded its extradition to which another Greek court had also given the go-ahead.
Alexander Vinnik who has said he wants to be extradited to Russia is being sued for a scam of 9500 euros an affair far beyond the money-laundering claim for which he is being claimed by the Americans.
Protestant of his innocence in both cases Alexander Vinnik was arrested late July in Thessaloniki on the basis of an arrest warrant for money laundering in the context of the important case BTC-e operator major of the bitcoin virtual currency.
BTC-e has already been fined US $ 110 million by FinCen the US Treasury Financial Police while Vinnik himself has been fined $ 12 million.
